A Little Time and a Keyboard: Holiday Crafts This Weekend: Michael's & Lake Shore Learning

Holiday Crafts This Weekend: Michael's & Lake Shore Learning

I took my daughter to one of the craft events at Michael's this past weekend.  She made a snowman ornament.  It was super-easy to make!  First, she poured a little white acrylic paint into a clear glass ornament.  She turned it around to coat the entire ornament.  She had to add paint one time to coat some stubborn areas.  Once it was covered, she turned the ornament over into a cup to allow the excess paint to drip out.  Then, the instructor capped off the ornament for her.  Next, she painted eyes, a carrot nose, and a mouth.  Et voila, a snowman:

This craft is an easy one.  If you decide to try it at home, make sure that the excess paint has dripped out and give the ornament a little time to dry before putting the cap on.  They really go through the crafts a little quickly at Michael's sometimes, so I think our ornament was capped off a little too early.  As a result, some of the paint bubbled out of the top.

Michael's has another craft event this weekend on Saturday, December 17.   Kids will be able to make duck tape luggage tags from 10:00AM-12:00PM and poinsettia cards from 12:00PM-2:00PM.  Lake Shore Learning will also have a craft event the same day.  Kids will be making penguin puppets from 11:00AM-3:00PM.
