A Little Time and a Keyboard: Seasons Harvest: a Culinary Treat in Harbor Country

Seasons Harvest: a Culinary Treat in Harbor Country

On a recent trip to Michigan's Harbor Country, we stopped at a cute little epicurean shop called Seasons Harvest. Seasons Harvest is tucked away on Red Arrow Highway in Harbert, Michigan. As soon as we entered the store, we were glad to have uncovered this tucked away treasure. Seasons Harvest has quite a collection of BBQ sauces, salsas, rubs, dessert toppings, grilling sauces, and more. (For those curious, Red Arrow Highway is a scenic drive through Harbor Country lined with a number of interesting shops and restaurants. I definitely recommend ambling along Red Arrow Highway when heading to Harbor Country.)

The store is very cute and everything is easy to peruse. When we entered the shop, we were immediately greeted by the store owner. She explained all of the products to us, which made it easy to find items that fit our tastes. Samples were readily available. Ingredients were easy to understand. (No preservatives--nice!) Since there also was a chocolate event going on, we were able to try some of the chocolate dessert toppings warmed up like fondue. Yum! Everything invited exploration so you could really try the products and go home with something you enjoyed.

After much sampling, we decided to go home with the Legends Rt 66 High Fructose Free High Country BBQ Sauce. Since Seasons Harvest readily discloses which sauces have high fructose corn syrup and which don't, it is easy to choose your preference. We liked the High Country because it had a interesting flavor--different from what we are used to. We also enjoyed a number of the chocolate dessert toppings. Given that we have mounds of chocolate in our house from Valentine's Day, we chose to wait until a future visit to pick one of them up!

Butterscotch, a sweetheart of a dog adopted by Seasons' owner, made the visit even more pleasant. I am such a sucker for a sweet dog! She is very gentle and, while a little shy, does love to get her pets from guests! I would be remiss if I did not tell you about the store's sweet greeter!

When we returned home, we were excited to use our new High Country BBQ Sauce. My husband used it for a pulled chicken sandwich last week. Yummy!

The sauce does have a rich and bold flavor, just like the label describes! It has a bit of a tang to it--from the vinegar. I also like the blend of tomato and tumeric. It will be fun to experiment with this sauce some more.

Seasons Harvest's owner informed my that they do sample their sauces with sandwiches in the spring, so check their calendar for this tasting event as well as others! You can order Seasons Harvest's delights online as well.

Seasons Harvest is located at 13686 Red Arrow Highway in Harbert, Michigan.
